Andy Lafreniere is a Claremont, NH, native who has been involved in volunteer activities within the Claremont region for 25 years, much of that focused on economic development. He recognizes the multi-faceted importance of well funded public education but also that fair taxation, aligned with NH court rulings, is the only way to truly achieve it. He is a local business owner in Claremont, operating as a professional energy broker of 15 years. He is vice chair of the Claremont Development Authority, an organization focused on fostering and supporting the community’s economic development, primarily through municipal real estate redevelopment. He is also a former regional advisory board member with NH Charitable Foundation.
Andy chairs a committee focused on furthering the opportunities for Career and Technical Education through the Sugar River Valley Community Technical Center and sees firsthand the opportunity in expanded programming for the community, and for students, but also the challenges in funding it. At a particularly contentious school deliberative session in 2022 about the local school budget, Andy again realized that the argument between “less resources and more taxes” could not be resolved at the local level. He has since been engaged with our work. Andy’s background includes a business degree from Plymouth State University, investment management, and marketing and branding experience.
He is a dad to four adult children, enjoys cycling and outdoor recreation, and lives in Claremont with his wife, Deborah, herself a Lebanon-based, 30-year veteran high school teacher.
