Upcoming Events

Democracy on Tap: Property Taxes + School Funding

Join us for Democracy on Tap, a nonpartisan gathering led by a group of concerned North Country citizens focused on discussing the most pressing issues facing Granite Staters today. Democracy on Tap will be hosting the NH School Funding Fairness Project at Cheese Louise in North Conway for a conversation on school funding and property taxes. Together, we’ll explore how NH funds public education, and how that system contributes to the growing and unsustainable property tax burden. We’ll look ahead to 2027 and share ideas about what a fair and sustainable revenue solution could look like for everyone.

Come grab a drink, connect with neighbors, and be part of a thoughtful, solutions-oriented conversation.

School Funding & Property Taxes: Rochester School District

Join the Rochester School District and the NHSFFP for a one-hour community conversation about how New Hampshire funds its public schools and what that means for local taxpayers and students. This session will break down how the current system works, why it creates unequal tax burdens and opportunities, and what recent court rulings could mean going forward. We’ll share local data specific to Rochester, explore the challenges facing the district, and highlight potential paths toward a fairer system.
